This awards program was initiated in 1989 by Family Guidance Center as a way to bring positive recognition to families in our communities. The importance of family and the effort needed from all members to keep a family strong is the focus of this prestigious awards program.
Traditional families, step-families, and single parent families are eligible for nomination. Criteria include family teamwork, encouraging individual growth, and family involvement in community activities. Nominated families must live in Central or South Alabama.
In 2007 the following families were honored: Jerry & Cheryl Bynum family; Mickey & Shelia Deveridge family; Kurt & Merrilyn Lloyd family; Felton & Vera Thompson family; and the Stephen & Stephanie Whyte family.
