Early Child Care Education and Training

Training seminars and workshops covering a wide range of topics and issues are provided through the Early Child Care Education and Training Department. Each quarter Child Care Connections, a newsletter with a full calendar of training opportunities, is available to meet the professional development needs of child care professionals within child care centers and family child care homes. A sampling of training opportunities includes training for both the new and experienced provider, Child Development Associate certificate (CDA), consultation on NAEYC accreditation and on-site staff development. The training needs of child care professionals are broad and varied and the Early Child Care Education and Training Department strives to meet those evolving needs.

The Early Child Care Education and Training Department offers extensive training and networking opportunities for the child care professional. Since the programís inception, thousands of child care providers have utilized the extensive resources available in our Resource/Lending libraries. Through the journals, books, videos, and cassettes, providers are able to enhance and expand the care provided for children. In addition to our libraries, our Resource Vans travel throughout central and southeast Alabama consulting with child care providers and making available helpful learning materials that meet specific child care and development needs.

Family Guidance Center has become a vital training partner with child care professionals in working toward providing quality care for children. Special events that are held throughout the year include Month of the Young Child activities in April, special mega-Saturday workshops,and conferences featuring nationally acclaimed presenters/authors.
