Family Guidance Center of Alabama, in partnership with the City of Montgomeryís Weed and Seed Program assists community residents in locating and accessing services that help to strengthen their families. Comprehensive assistance and referral services are offered with particular emphasis placed on opportunities for employment readiness and employment, and substance abuse prevention and treatment services. Extensive networking with community-based agencies and services provides wrap-around services for participating families.
Services of this program are offered at no cost to families residing in the Weed and Seed community, whose boundaries are defined by the City of Montgomery. The Community Facilitator, Sinquetta Miles, helps families address basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, health care), employment readiness skills (education and skills, resumes/ applications, job search), employment (workplace behavior, work ethics), substance abuse prevention and treatment (signs of substance use among teens, treatment facilities, support groups), and other individualized services. The service is coordinated through Family Guidance Center of Alabama's Family Service and Resource Program.
